Texas Frightmare Weekend 2019 Cosplay And Review

Some might consider it what nightmares are made of, and others see it as a dream come true. The area’s largest horror convention, Texas Frightmare Weekend, returned to the Hyatt Regency DFW Airport. With the largest names in the horror genre, the event was sure to be a scream.

Robert Englund, Bruce Campbell, and Cassandra Peterson were among the thrilling guests at this year’s Texas Frightmare Weekend. Even renowned Hollywood writers/directors Nick Castle and Sam Raimi made it out to DFW. Between the celebrity guests, horror merchandise, and terrifying cosplay, it was sure to be a weekend to remember.

The Hyatt hotel did an amazing job setting the atmosphere again this year. Ice skulls in the water coolers, warnings written on the walls in blood, and a car well prepared for the apocalypse greeted visitors as they entered. Unfortunately, this year held some actual terror for one of the celebrity guests. Meat Loaf took a tumble on stage and had to miss the final day due to a broken collar bone. That said, fans were thrilled to hear that he is doing well and has already agreed to return next year.

Navigating through the airport’s confusing road system may have been the most horrifying aspect of the trip. GPS systems do very little to help get to the location. The crowds at the convention were pretty heavy as well, which is a testament to Texas Frightmare’s growing popularity. Event workers did a great job keeping things in order and adapting to the influx, but the small facilities proved to be a bit of a challenge.

In true Texas Frightmare fashion, the organizers made sure that there was plenty to do throughout the day and the night. Film screenings were held on location, and there were several special screenings by Alamo Drafthouse that included some of the cast members. The Evil Dead was the theme of this year’s afterparty. Fans were also able to hear G Tom Mac perform some of his hit music.

With all that Texas Frightmare has to offer, it would not be the same without the cosplay of devoted attendees.
