Everyone always knows what food to bring to a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, whether it’s the turkey, cranberries, or Aunt Edna’s family-secret pecan pie. But do you know what beer to bring too? Below is your beer pairing guide for every traditional Thanksgiving dish. Widely available local beers are used where applicable, but some styles are […]
Even though the temperatures may not quite indicate it yet, winter is definitely coming. Â At this year’s Dallas Untapped Festival in Fair Park, we saw the likes of those heavy heart-warming beers, from thick barrel-aged stouts, to big-sipping barleywines, to even a few oddities here and there. A few highlights from this year’s festival: Stouts: […]

Every year in March, all eyes across the country are focused on March Madness and college basketball. Â About that same time, every media outlet has bracket-styled polls to garner your attention. Â Instead of others making the decision for what is the best of this, or the greatest of that, I give you the 2015 DFW Beer Bracket, where YOU decide what YOU like best. Â The idea is to print out the beer bracket below, and when you go out drinking, order a taster flight of beer matchups, and record for yourself which you like the best. Â As you go through the bracket, you will figure out your beer preferences, and eventually land on what DFW beer is YOUR favorite.
Some of you may have seen the article ranking the best 18 Dallas-area breweries. The article takes a fairly subjective view on a majority of the DFW (Ft. Worth is not Dallas-area) with no basis for the author’s ranking, other than his own opinion on the matter.
It may not be obvious from the surface, but the camaraderie in the local beer scene has been ‘brewing’ since Rahr opened, and it was clearly visible at this year’s Untapped Festival. We saw Rahr and Lakewood brewing companies coming together to make the first all DFW collaboration beer, DFW: A COllaboration of Two […]
Here we are again with another Untapped Festival in Dallas on the horizon, except this year it won’t be in the blistering September sun, but in the (slightly) cooler November atmosphere. Â With the date pushed back, it also allowed the festival to be the official kick-off of the second annual North Texas Beer Week. Â Top […]
