GeniusDen launched in Deep Ellum last year as a business incubator founded on a three part mission to provide space, community, and education to the Dallas entrepreneurial community. As part of the GeniusDen’s commitment to providing learning opportunities for the startup community in DFW, GeniusDen just announced its first speaker series. I spoke founder with Joe Payton about his plans for the first series of events, which will take place this summer.

So the weekend is coming to a close and you’re already wondering what will be going on next weekend. What better way to start things off than by supporting some local talent at the upcoming SPECTRUM event presented by RAW: natural born artists.

The most anticipated event of the year, the 19th annual Deep Ellum Arts Festival, transforms six city blocks of Main Street in the Deep Ellum entertainment district into a spectacular visual and performing arts festival featuring 200 juried decorative and visual artists from throughout the country, 100 original bands, singer/songwriters and performance artists performing only original music from 5 different stages, bountiful food and drink and the renowned Sunday Pet Parade. An “Arty Party” for all of the senses, this unique gathering with tantalizing sights, sounds and flavors showcases everything that makes Deep Ellum the most interesting and evolving neighborhood in the Metroplex. Even the people watching is amazing!

Peak & Elm Cocina y Bar will officially debut the restaurant’s fresh, authentic culinary concept with an opening celebration on February 8; dinner service from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and a big after-party until 2 a.m.

Apparently April is festival season, who knew?
