LUNAFEST®, the fundraising film festival dedicated to promoting awareness about women’s issues, highlighting women filmmakers, and bringing women together in their communities, will be hosted by Zonta Club of Dallas at the Angelika theater at Mockingbird Station in Dallas.
Brian Clark, one of the most influential online marketers in the world, will discuss how he turned a simple blog into a multi-million dollar company using content marketing Wednesday, April 18 at at 6:30 p.m. at the Angelika Theater.
The Dallas International Film Festival has movies in all genres and for all the varying film tastes out there. But despite my previous notions about this one, my favorite film so far took me back to my childhood, reminded me that hard work and perseverance really can pay off, and was a about a furry, red thing.
With 25 films making their Southwest, United States or North American premieres, the 2010 Asian Film Festival of Dallas gives viewers a rare opportunity to see movies covering the spectrum of cinema from ten countries. The festival runs July 23-29 at venues around Dallas. See the 2010 lineup.
The Angelika will be showing FREE Hitchcock movies every Thursday on the pavilion at Mockingbird station. Some seats will be available, but chairs, blankets and picnic baskets are encouraged. Film starts at 8pm and you don’t want to miss the Oct 8th showing of Rear Window. Did you know Hitchcock makes a cameo appearance in 39 of his 52 major films?
Dallas Cinemania will be presenting a rare 35mm screening of SHOGUN ASSASSIN tonight at the Angelika Film Center in Mockingbird Station. Tickets are $10 and the show starts at 8pm with a selection of vintage, exploitation trailers. Bring cash.

Next Friday, “Is Anybody There?†starring Michael Caine opens. The USA Film Festival will be featuring the film on Thursday, April 30 at 7PM at the Angelika Dallas. People will be purchasing tickets to get in to see the film but, guess what? You might not have to purchase your tickets. The folks at cinecamp have some comp tickets to give away! Last year’s AFI Fest was amazing. I volunteered, went to a few premier screenings, and even watched short films for the first time. Like with anything you do a second time, I have reflected back to the things I wish I would have known, and look forward to what I will do this year to make the experience even better than the last.
This year’s AFI Dallas Festival will showcase 77 feature films and 96 shorts from 22 countries. Instead of waiting for the critics to review these movies, this year make it your own. Sure, it’s a risk. The movie could be horrible and your night could be ruined (a bit drastic, but I’ve been there.) Don’t worry. I’ve done the legwork, reading through all the film synopsis’ (currently only covering Feature Films) and choosing the good ones.
