Although many of the speakers hail from the San Francisco Bay area, of the 65 featured speakers at Digital Summit Dallas, at least eight are Dallas-based. This isn’t all of the Dallas-based speakers, just ones we found particularly interesting. Plus we had to widdle it down to eight so it rhymed with great. Here are some outstanding hometown guys/gals representing Big D at the Digital Summit conference coming up next week.

INTERVIEW: 9 Mildly Amusing Questions for Scott Dikkers – Founding Editor of The Onion

INTERVIEW: 9 Mildly Amusing Questions for Scott Dikkers - Founding Editor of The Onion

I started reading The Onion when I was in college circa 2000 after I saw a dormmate had printed out copies of his favorite articles from the Internet and taped them to his door. When I saw the Founding Editor Scott Dikkers was coming to Dallas I decided to contact him via Twitter. Needless to say the site has made a big impact as a pioneer of online publishing and and in the realm of comedic satire online. Scott started the original hard copy version, among other creative things. After a little ego stroking, as well as the fact he recently published a book telling his secrets, he agreed to give us some insight into some questions I prepared in anticipation of Scott’s upcoming keynote talk at Digital Summit Dallas on December 5th. He was kind enough to answer my questions via email.

Panicking because you don’t have a weekend in-Dallas date idea? Need to know what to do with the spouse and kids a few weeks in advance? This is your list. This list is also for those festival junkies that like to #festhard all year long. We’ve meticulously poured through 130+ websites to get you these official 2018 dates of 90 D-FW festivals as early in 2018 as we could. It’s not everything, but those that have their dates listed on what should be their first place to disseminate info, their website.

These aren’t just any Dallas-Fort Worth festivals & events either, this is a curated list of which 70% – 80% we’ve attended or promoted over the last 13 years. Thus, we can vouch for the festival or events’ legitimacy. Secondly, to further authenticate this list, most of these festivals listed have stood the test of time. Except for possibly one or two of which 2018 is their inaugural year, many have occurred annually for many years (a handful for as much as 30 years). It took us living in Dallas, keeping our eyes and ears open, attending winners and the duds to identify some of the best that D-FW has to offer.
