Joan Baez, Steve Earle, Patty Griffin, James McMurtry, and More Raise Funds to Aid Refugees
Joan Baez, Brandi Carlile, Lila Downs, Steve Earle, Patty Griffin, Emmylou Harris, Dave Matthews, James McMurtry, Buddy Miller, Alynda Segarra, The Mastersons, Lucinda Williams – all Grammy winners and Grammy nominated artists – are donating their talent this month in eight cities for Lampedusa: Concerts for Refugees including Dallas this weekend.
Produced by Jesuit Refugee Service/USA (JRS/USA), in partnership with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, Lampedusa: Concerts for Refugees is raising awareness and money to support expanded educational opportunities for displaced people through JRS’s Global Education Initiative. Funds raised from the tour help refugees heal, learn, and thrive.
Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) is an international organization serving refugees and other forcibly displaced people. JRS meets refugees where they are, regardless of their race, ethnic origin, or religious beliefs, providing the services they need to restore their dignity and rebuild their lives. Driven by the values of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits), we envision a world in which the most vulnerable people – those fleeing from their homes – have the opportunity to heal, learn, and thrive.
