1. State Fair of Texas – Sept. 30th – Sunday, Oct. 23rd – Fair Park Station. It’s the last weekend of the fair! The theme for 2016 is “Celebrating Texas Agriculture,” and special activities will include concerts on the Main Stage and college football games. Daily activities include the Starlight Parade at 7 p.m. and the Illumination Sensation lights and fireworks show at 8 p.m. (more info)
2. Dallas VideoFest – Oct. 18th-23rd – Dallas City Performance Hall – four city blocks from Pearl/Arts District Station. The 29th Annual Dallas VideoFest will host approximately 125 screenings of local, regional and internationally produced media art programs. The festival specializes in independent, alternative, and non-commercial media, presenting hard-to-find works rarely seen on television, in movie theaters, or elsewhere. You’ll see experimental video, documentaries, shorts, feature length films and animation. (more info)
3. So What? Music Festival Fall Edition – Oct. 21-23rd – Deep Ellum – Deep Ellum Station. This festival boasts an eclectic lineup spanning genres like metal, indie, hip-hop, electronic, and more. Performances take place on indoor stages in several Deep Ellum venues including The Door, Prophet Bar, Three Links, Club Dada, Curtain Club and Liquid Lounge. (more info)
4. Park and Palate – Oct. 21 & 22 – Klyde Warren Park – Pearl/Arts District Station. For two days this fall, Klyde Warren Park will be the host of the hottest culinary event in the city. Park & Palate will showcase the region’s most popular chefs as well as wineries, breweries and spirits from around the world, all against the backdrop of the distinctive Dallas skyline. Featuring a Grand Tasting, evening concert and tasting event, and exclusive VIP area, Park & Palate will highlight the cutting-edge Dallas restaurant scene along with tastemakers throughout the region. (more info)
5. Pumpkins on the Plaza – Oct. 22 – Dallas City Hall – Convention Center Station. Kids of all ages are invited to a free Halloween carnival on the plaza in front of Dallas City Hall. The fun gets started at 4 p.m. with a costume contest for children and pets. Activities also include hayrides, pumpkin decorating, story time, games, music, inflatables and a lighted pumpkin art installation perfect for photo ops. Food and drinks will be available to purchase from food trucks and vendors. (more info)
6. Deck in the Park Halloween Edition – Klyde Warren Park - Pearl/Arts District Station. Decks in the Park’s annual Halloween Bash at Klyde Warren Park is open to all ages and costumes are highly encouraged. Performers include Play-N-Skillz, Sharkweek, Black Frames, The Feels, Wish FM aka Wade Randolph Hampton, Jose Pascuall G and Nikolas James with Souljah and Decks founder Jeff Mitchell as emcees and visuals by VJ S(eye) aka Selvin de Leon. 7. Plano Steinfest – Oct. 29th – Downtown Plano – Downtown Plano Station. In the tradition of Oktoberfest, historic downtown Plano is turning 15th Street into one big party!  Come enjoy live music, an artist village of craftsmen and makers, German bier and sausage, games, contests, commemorative steins, T-shirts and more.  Food and souvenirs are available for purchase, plus over a dozen restaurants are in the middle of all the action.  Kids crafts, face painting, keg bowling and more! (more info)
8. Blues, Bandits and BBQ – Nov. 11th & 12th – Kidd Springs Park – Routes 42, 542 and 405. More than 30 teams of barbecue specialists will take over Kidd Springs Park for this two-day festival hosted by Go Oak Cliff. The action begins Nov. 11 when grill masters light their fires. Spectators are welcome, and there will be food and drink for sale and live music. (more info)
9. Untapped Dallas – Nov. 12th – Fair Park – Fair Park Station. Untapped Festival is a craft beer & music festival series that takes place in Dallas, FT Worth, Houston and now Austin and San Antonio, Texas.
