Dallas Summer Musicals kicks off season with the magical Cinderella

The 2013 Tony® Award-winning Broadway musical, Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, is now playing at the Music Hall at Fair Park for a limited engagement from June 9-21, presented by Dallas Summer Musicals. The tour will then head to Fort Worth, where it will play at Bass Performance Hall June 23-28, presented by Performing Arts Fort Worth. Photo Credit - Andy Jones & Paige Faure in the National Tour of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella. With its fresh new take on the beloved tale of a young woman who is transformed from a chambermaid into a princess, this hilarious and romantic story combines the story’s classic elements – glass slippers, pumpkin, and a beautiful ball along with some surprising twists. More than just a pretty face with the right shoe size, this Cinderella is a contemporary figure living in a fairytale setting. She is a spirited young woman with savvy and soul who doesn’t let her rags or her gowns trip her up in her quest for kindness, compassion and forgiveness. She longs to escape the drudgery of her work at home and instead work to make the world a better place. She not only fights for her own dreams, but forces the prince to open his eyes to the world around him and realize his dreams too. Photo Credit - 2 Adrian Arrieta, Paige Faure & Blakely Slaybaugh in the National Tour of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella. After attending the show last week, I can guarantee it’s nothing short of magical. The set was beautiful and the transitions were even more impressive. The costumes as well as costume changes were also an amazing sight; I loved the detail that was kept in mind when Cinderella literally turned from rags to riches.Photo Credit - The Cast of the National Tour of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella. There were plenty of children that attended and I think that even though it’s a tad different than the classic Cinderella story, it kept their attention. I would recommend seeing this gorgeous musical to both kids and adults alike.Photo Credit - 3 The Cast of the National Tour of Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Photo © Carol Rosegg.
