Planning a Ski Trip to Colorado? Check out the Thriving Art Scene
Like most skiers and snowboarders, the Mile High City will likely be your jumping-off city to the resorts. The Denver Museum of Art offers one of the largest collections between Chicago and the West Coast. The museum is free the first Saturday of every month and kids under 18 are always free.
Similar to the Dallas Design District, Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe encompasses hundreds of artists, galleries, studios, theaters, and creative businesses. The district produces a monthly art festival known as the First Friday Art Walks.

Every third Friday the district also puts together a Collectors’ Night Art Walk. We attended the event on December 21st.
Among the galleries we visited, the most diverse collection we found was at Abraxas Studio. Abraxas is part an art gallery, part a local clothing and accessories boutique, and part creative design studio. Our favorite pieces were from Denver artists Anthony Nguyen and David Sanders.
If Billionaire Mountain in Aspen is your winter destination, the Aspen Art Museum is a must see. The museum is always free and showcases the newest, most important evolutions in international contemporary art.

A playground for top art collectors, Aspen is home to many fine art galleries.
On Saturday, December 22nd, we had the pleasure of visiting the Skye Gallery. This upstart gallery already represents several world-renowned artists, including a collection we wrote about during Art Basel. We were very impressed with these paintings from artist Ashley Longshore.

If you end up taking in the beautiful Colorado artwork or not. We can all stand in awe at the Chaotic language of art here in Dallas, like the O.R.D.A. Gallery.
