Cottonwood Art Festival is a semi-annual event that features works from the nation’s top visual artists. Located in scenic Cottonwood Park in Richardson, Texas, this prestigious art show has been a part of Richardson life for over forty years.

Cottonwood Art Festival is a juried show. This year approximately 1,400 artists submitted their work for consideration. For each show, jurors select over 240 artists to exhibit their museum-quality work. The artists compete in 14 categories: 2D Mixed Media, 3D Mixed Media, Ceramics, Digital, Drawings/Pastels, Fiber, Glass, Jewelry, Leather, Metalwork, Painting, Photography, Sculpture and Wood.

Considered by many of the pilots that compete at the Great Texas Balloon Race to be the best event on the circuit, the Great Texas Balloon Race has earned Longview the official designation as “The Balloon Capital of Texas” by the Governor of Texas in 1985. In 2013 Gregg County was proclaimed “The Balloon Race Capital of Texas” by the 83rd Texas Legislature.
