Five Dallas Festivals in April You Don’t Want to Miss
I’ve never thought of the D as a festival town, Dallasites have a tendency to get stuck in their routine and weekend-festivals are routine-breakers. But if you need a routine break, (and if you think you don’t, take one anyways, you’ll be glad you did), there are multiple exciting things going on EVERY weekend this month. Since apparently April is festival season, who knew? Check out my list of the top five below.
It all kicks off this weekend with the Deep Ellum Arts Festival. April 6 – 8 six blocks of Main Street in Deep Ellum will be transformed into one giant street party with 200 artists, 100 bands and TONS of incredible food and drink options. Best part? It is absolutely free.
The following weekend, head just a few minutes further east to Fair Park where the first annual Big Texas Beer Fest happens.
With tons of local breweries and a good amount of food to soak up the suds, if you like craft beer, I think you’re going to like this. It all happens on Saturday April 14th, click here for tickets.
Starting on April 13 and running through the 15th, the high-culture lovers amongst us will be able to check out the Dallas Art Fair, now in its 4th year at the Fashion Industry Gallery in downtown Dallas. You can buy a pass for all three days and check out over 70 national and international dealers and galleries exhibiting work in various medium by modern and contemporary sculptors. After all, that wall above your bed has been looking empty for way too long. It might not have made international headlines quite yet, but we think it’s on its way. Tired yet? Starting on April 12 and running through the 22nd, the Dallas International Film Festival brings Dallasites two weeks worth of some of the best cinema in the world. Programmed by the Dallas Film Society, the festival has grown to become one of the largest festivals of its kind in the Southwest.
Last year more than 20,000 people attended screenings which take place throughout the city and include everything from independent film to Academy-award winners and nominees. Finally, April 21 and 22 get ready to get Eco-friendly with Dallas’ Earth Day celebration. Earth Day is an annual event held throughout the country, and last year Dallas had one of the largest celebrations in the country, we’re certain this year is going to be even better.

Live music, speakers, films, workshops, food, drinks, fun, need I go on? Plus it’s free, at Fair Park and aims to save the North Texas environment. That’s something everyone can get on board with.
