The Museum of Geometric and MADI Art in Dallas opened in 2003 when Bill and Dorothy Masterson, lifelong supporters of the arts, were introduced to the innovative MADI art movement. It is the first museum with a concentration on MADI art, an art movement founded in Buenos Aires focusing on non-representational geometric abstraction and encompassing all branches of art.

The Mastersons immersed themselves in the MADI movement, traveling around the world to collect MADI artwork and even staying with Carmelo Arden Quin, the movement’s founder. When Mr. Masterson’s law firm, Kilgore & Kilgore, moved to the building on 3109 Carlisle, the Mastersons converted the majority of the first floor of the building into the first permanent MADI museum. The construction of the building itself was designed in the MADI style; one that emphasizes innovative designs containing various geometric forms.

The artists represented in the permanent collection span from Europe, Russia, Japan, South America and the United States. Starting with the MADI movement’s birth and continuing through modern artists working in the geometric style, the artists of the permanent collection exhibit one similar trait: a love for geometric forms, color play, and art that stretches the boundaries.
