Founders Festival Arrives in Rockwall May 19th

Rockwall celebrates its 164th birthday this Saturday at Rockwall Founders Day Festival 2018! Presented by Rockwall Parks and Recreation, this free event will take place at Harry Myers Park all day long from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and features tons of fun for the whole family with live music, food and retail vendors, and a Kids Zone.

Headliner the Josh Abbott Band will take the Southwest Kia main stage beginning at 8 p.m., with country/southern rock singer-songwriter Shooter Jennings performing as the opener at 6 p.m. Other bands performing throughout the day include Whiskey Hat, Benton Lawson, Nick Snyder & the Real Deal, and Redwine Band.

Food and retail vendors will be on site all day for folks to shop arts and crafts, children’s items, jewelry, candles, ceramics and more. Be sure to stop by the Rockwall County Historical Foundation Museum located at the park and marvel at the RCHF and Daughters of the American Revolution exhibits featuring pictures, weapons, artifacts and other historical items. The Bailey House will be the site for the exhibits and will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Terry Fisher American Legion Post 117 will also conduct an interactive history event for elementary-aged children from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Boys and girls will be reenacting enlistment, induction and basic training drills similar to those the “Doughboys” experienced 100 years ago.
