The Crossroads of Texas Film and Music Festival is gearing up April 19th-22nd. This year, the theme is “Heroes and Legends” and the programming features everything from stories about our favorite heroes and performances from legendary Texas musicians.

Filmmaking began here with Bonnie and Clyde, scripted by Waxahachie native Robert Benton, which was filmed in 1967. It reached its pinnacle in the early 1980’s when Benton returned to his former hometown to write and direct the Oscar-winning feature Places in the Heart, starring Sally Field. Two other Oscar-winners, Tender Mercies, starring Robert Duvall and Tess Harper, and The Trip to Bountiful, were also shot principally in Waxahachie at that time.

The Crossroads of Texas Film Festival is a tribute festival that not only celebrates Waxahachie-made films, but also salutes films made in Texas or by Texans. Come join us for four days of fun, films, food, music and more!
