The Milestones Luncheon Benefiting Junior League of Dallas with Speaker Octavia Spencer
The Junior League of Dallas has the distinct pleasure of announcing Academy Award-winning actress Octavia Spencer as the keynote speaker of The Milestones Luncheon, presented by The Kohl Foundation. Spencer, a highly talented actress with a love affair with film, has been featured in a variety of roles since 1986.
However, it was her role as the feisty maid Minny in the critically-acclaimed movie The Help, that earned her the most attention she had received within her career to date. More recently, she appeared in The Great Gilly Hopkins, lent her voice to the Disney animated film Zootopia, starred in the drama Hidden Figures, for which she earned nominations from the Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards and the SAG Awards for Best Performance By An Actress in a Supporting Role. Her latest credit is the drama, Gifted.
The Milestones Luncheon is an annual fundraiser benefiting the Junior League of Dallas Community Service Fund that serves as a platform to raise awareness for the programs and issues supported by the organization, developing the potential of women improving the community through effective action, as well as, to recognize the impact and achievements of its volunteers.
The Luncheon will also recognize the Sustainer of the Year, Linda Perryman Evans, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Meadows Foundation, one of the largest private philanthropies in Texas. A Director and Trustee of the Foundation since 1976, Ms. Evans is the great niece of founders, Algur H. and Virginia Meadows.
Proceeds from The Milestones Luncheon will allow the Junior League of Dallas to annually grant $1 million to the Dallas community.
