If you started your music career at the ripe age of 15 with years of piano study already under your belt, and then spent the next four years locking yourself away daily in the studio, it may not be that big of a surprise that your work gets featured as an Essential Choice on Pete Tong’s BBC radio show or that Tiësto personally expresses his recognition and support of your talent. But hey, that’s just how Dutch DJ Sandro Silva started his DJ career in 2006.

Silva is widely known for the first true Big Room House anthem, Epic¸ with Quintino in 2011…but not without first premiering it during Tiësto’s set at EDC Las Vegas. The track made its mark with classic dance progressions and a simple melody, complimented by a unique chord progression which can only be described as “ethereal.” With its “hands in the air” battle cry, the fully instrumental Epic made its way to the top of the Dutch Top 40, was featured on Swedish House Mafia‘s compilation album Until Now, and made it to Laidback Luke’s highly regarded live mix on Radio FG. Silva arrived with the earned head nod from all the right people.
