Drone Wars II at Cavanaugh Flight Museum

In a sport that looks more sci-fi than NASCAR, flying drones has taken off across the United States.  Addison’s Cavanaugh Flight Museum will celebrate the fun and festivities of drone racing on Friday and Saturday, November 13-14, when they host the 2nd Cavanaugh Flight Museum Drone Wars. These indoor races, which will be hosted in an 11,000 aircraft hangar, showcases drones competing head to head on a precision 3-D obstacle course.

Drone Wars IIIn each heat, the winning drone will be the one which crosses the finish line first after completing the course with the fewest number of infractions. The carefully crafted, netted course includes hoops, pylons, bridges, turns and slaloms. Course infractions include touching an obstacle, touching the ground before finishing the course, not flying the proper course, and a pilot stepping outside of the designated “cockpit” area while flying the course. There are three classes for entries:  beginner, intermediate and expert. Trophies will be awarded for first through third place in each class.
