What’s New at the 29th Annual Taste of Dallas

taste-of-dallas-2015

It’s food, fireworks and flavor at North Texas’s largest event dedicated to all things food June 12-14 in Dallas’s Fair Park. Taste of Dallas presented by Ford, is set to satisfy the tens of thousands of hungry tasters who love to stroll Dallas’s Fair Park and taste from restaurants all over North Texas.

So what’s new this year?

  • $25,000 BBQ Battle Royale
  • Heart Healthy Sunday
  • Taste the Difference

This year is a “Celebration of BBQ.” From brisket to ribs, chicken to pork, you get to taste your way through the best BBQ in DFW from more than a dozen BBQ restaurants and local pitmasters. Samples are available from $1-$4 from restaurants including Eddie Deen’s, Riscky’s, Hard Eight, Smoke to the Bone and others.

This year eighteen professional BBQ teams from across the Southwest will compete in the $25,000 BBQ Battle Royale, that is set to happen at Taste of Dallas. The Kansas City Barbeque Society-sanctioned event will take place on Sunday, June 14, with the awards presentation at 5 p.m. meat

Beyond BBQ is a collection of North Texas restaurants and food trucks set to deliver. Some new and beloved restaurants participating in Taste of Dallas this year include: Fat Rabbit, Texas de Brazil as well as food trucks like: Bellatrino, Misha’s Food Truck and Best Bayou Bites, and more than 50 other restaurants. No entrée is more than $4.

American Heart Association is the charity beneficiary of Taste of Dallas. This year they are helping bring forward the new “Heart Healthy Sunday” brought to you by Texas Health Resources. All restaurants will be making heart-healthy fare, and there will be free screenings and CPR training, family-friendly entertainment, jump rope teams and ways to learn about healthy activities and more that contribute to overall well-being. On Sunday HeartStrong 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run in Fair Park will take place to raise money for heart disease research.

The Taste Marketplace is another section that provides samples and culinary delights. Here you can check out new barbecue products and equipment, meet with health and wellness exhibitors, join the DJ party at the Ford Main Stage, and get sugared up at The Sweet Factory.

Taste the Difference

Also new for this year is a VIP tasting experience within Taste of Dallas called Taste the Difference. This celebrates and elevates the “art of the meal.” A separately ticketed event for 21 and up only, this foodie experience was produced by culinarian Scott Jones.

Complete with wine, beer and spirits tastings, chef interactions and mixology, this adds a new angle to TOD. Celebrity chefs including Dean Fearing, Brian Zenner, Kirstyn Brewer, Omar Flores, Anthony Van Camp, Jeff Harris, Bob Stephenson, Scott Gottlich, Abraham Salum, Uno Immanivong and Randall Warder will star at the event.
