AnimeFest is Coming Back to Dallas – Bring on the Cosplay
So the summer season is a total wash. Our favorite TV shows won’t return from hiatus until fall. Things are getting pretty crazy in politics and in world news. Weather is out of control. Concert tickets are getting pricier and summer movies are becoming more lame. August isn’t exactly what I would call a slam dunk month for events that happen in DFW. But when events do happen, why not take advantage when the opportunity arrives?
Take for instance AnimeFest. For all of the anime fans out there, now would be a great time to buy some tickets and to invite some friends. Given what is going on in the real world right now, a little escapism is something that people need. Now that’s not to say that we want to bury our problems, but I am saying that we don’t want our problems to bury us.
Here are some factoids about AnimeFest. It’s completely non-profit, and started right here in Texas. It has been around since 1992, bringing in not only the love of anime to the masses, but also art and pop culture. It has been around longer than the Asian Film Festival of Dallas and has as much of a steady fan base than Dallas Comic Con,  and has more of a community focus like A-Kon. So if you’ve been to any of these Cons, then you know what to expect –  four days of guest panels, swag deals, cosplay, merchandising, and music. If you ever wanted to know what J-Pop is like live, come on down to AnimeFest.
