The fourth annual Bastille on Bishop kicks off this Sunday, July 14th, from 6PM to 10PM in the historic Bishop Arts District (400 and 500 block of Bishop Street b/w Seventh and Melba). Be prepared for one of the biggest frenchy street fests in all of Texas. French themed foods will be available from ten different local restaurants including crepes, sausage with baguettes, mussels, duck confit, parfaits, and more! Also, if you want to drink some of the incredible wines they will have on hand, you’ll need to pick up a wine glass either at the front gate, or pre-order to beat the crowds.

You can reserve yours by “buying a ticket” on Prekindle, and then come to the Will Call tent at Bastille, and they’ll have it saved for you. The ticket price includes the glass and your first fill of wine. Refills can be purchased on site. This year’s wine selection includes a white, a red, and a rosé. Here’s a breakdown of just some of the fun events and activities occurring throughout the day:

For the Family

6PM – 10PM Alliance Francaise de Dallas and the French Chamber of Commerce will be partnering to offer children’s activities in front of Cozy Cottage.

6PM – 10PM Street Petanque – They haul in 4 tons of dirt on the street to make a giant petanque court that’s led by members of Dallas’ own local boules club.

6PM – 10PM French photo booth created by local artist Cathey Miller and run by everyone’s favorite local photographer, Ange Fitzgerald

Fun on Two Wheels

6:00 PM Le Tour de Tandemonium – Bring out your bicycle built for two and take part in Bike Friendly Oak Cliff’s second annual Le Tour de Tandemoinum bicycle race. Dressing up is encouraged! Find more information here.

6:00 PM Vespa Scooter Rally arrives – What’s more french then riding around on a scooter with a bottle of wine and baguette hanging off the back? Dallas’ favorite scooter group will be meeting at the Dubliner in East Dallas and leaving at 5:15PM heading down Swiss Avenue, through Downtown Dallas, and on to Oak Cliff.

Reminder: If you live in Oak Cliff, it’s much easier to get to the event on bike! Pedicabs will be available to shuttle folks around as well.

Music (beside Emporium Pies)

6:00 – 7:00PM – DJ Victor Rimach will be spinning french tunes to kick the festival off

7:00 – 8:00PM – Texas Gypsies will perform their Djano Reinhardt inspired music. Get your dancing shoes on!

8:15 – 9:15PM – Matt Tolentino Quartet -Accordion and Sax virtuoso and leader of the Singapore Slingers, Matt Tolentino, will perform some fun french numbers with members of his old time orchestra.

9:15PM – 10PM - DJ Victor Rimach will help you wind down the evening.

Danielle Georgiou Dance Group – Be on the lookout for street dancing performances by Dallas’ own avant garde dance troupe.

French Maid Relay – Break out the feather dusters and mini-dresses! Guys and gals sign up onsite for the always amazing French Maid Street Relay.

Mimes – The Lone Star Circus of Dallas will have mimes on site performing throughout the festival.
