I bet you don’t even know where The Greenzone is, so I’m here to help you get in the know. There is a bright green building tucked behind a sculpture boneyard on the edge of the trendy Design District. 161 Riveredge Drive is the address. Put that in your phone and clear your schedule  for at least one night this weekend. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll pop into Acension Coffee House and Wine Bar (1621 Oak Lawn Ave) to imbibe before the show.
An innovative collection of new work by local artists inhabits The Greenzone this weekend. Spacegrove Productions, the company behind On the Eve, presents new work from local artists Paul Slavens and Jenny Ledel for a weekend of magical live performance, music and media.

In the early stages of its production process, Theresa Alice is the first full-length play by local theater darling Ledel. The piece unravels a wonderland, as it follows the journey of a woman who throws herself into an imaginative world filled with motley characters including a cross-dressing gossip, a pop-singing Cleopatra and a King Henry VIII.
The staged reading of this piece has been a collaboration with Shawn Magill (sound and production design), Anastasia Munoz (movement) and Michael Federico (direction). It features a cohort of fine Dallas actors including Drew Wall, Danielle Pickard, Ian Ferguson, Seth Magill, Whitney Holitik, and Dana Jensen.  It will be performed just twice in what is hopefully just the first leg of its journey, May 2 & 3 at 8 p.m. Tickets are pay what you can, but reservations are suggested.
Same place, same time on May 4 the 1923 silent film The Hunchback of Notre Dame  receives an original score from Dallas musician and KXT radio host Paul Slavens. The music will be played live by Paul and other local musicians, including members of Home by Hovercraft. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased here.
