DADA Spring Gallery Walk 2013

The Dallas Art Dealers Association presents their annual DADA Spring Gallery Walk this weekend, April 18-20, 2013, featuring thirty-five of DADA’s leading member galleries, museums, and nonprofit art spaces. The three-day event includes Panel Discussions, a Gallery Walk, DADA Docents, the Edith Baker Art Scholarship Show, the Senior Juried Show for Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and Bike Swarm in the Design District with Bike Friendly Oak Cliff.

DADA PANEL DISCUSSION
Topic: How to Create Your Own Art Studio

DADA partnered with the Creative Arts Center for this event, with unding provided by the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs and the Texas Commission on the Arts. Proceeds benefit DADA’s Edith Baker Art Scholarship and Artist Career Development Fund.

Friday, April 19, 6-8 pm

EDITH BAKER ART SCHOLARSHIP AWARD CEREMONY 
DADA will present two scholarships of $2500-along with mentorships, internships, and artists’ studio visits-to two visual art students from the Dallas County Community College District at an award ceremony at the Museum of Geometric and MADI Art, 3109 Carlisle Street. Art of the winners and the other finalists will be exhibited April 19-27.

The finalists are Misty Adams of North Lake College, Ethan Audet of Cedar Valley College, Reyna Flores of Mountain View College, Amy He of Eastfield College, Roy Martinez of El Centro College, David Namaksy of Richland College, and Virginia Robertson of Brookhaven College.

DADA’s additional scholarship is courtesy of The Kenneth R. Craighead Jr. and Steven L. Green Foundation for Arts and Education. The Scholarship Jury includes Edith Baker, Marcie Inman, Sue Flynn, Lisa Taylor, and Kenneth Craighead.

DADA SPRING GALLERY WALK 
Art lovers of every description will have the opportunity to socialize and tour a full spectrum of galleries and special exhibitions all in one day. Start at any member location and pick up a map or go online at dallasartdealers.org to print out a map. Hours at each gallery vary; please see individual listings.

Saturday, April 20, 1:30-5 pm

DADA BIKE SWARM
Cyclists of all age levels and abilities are invited to the Dallas Art Dealers Association and Bike Friendly Oak Cliff’s Bike Swarm as part of the DADA Spring Gallery Walk on Saturday, April 20, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at DADA member Oak Cliff Cultural Center, 223 West Jefferson Boulevard. The event is free and includes a self-guided tour of the art galleries located in the Design District.

RECEPTION FOR SENIOR JURIED SHOW OF BOOKER T. WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL VISUAL ARTS STUDENTS
Norwood Flynn Gallery will host a reception for the Senior Juried Show, featuring senior visual art students from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. All of the proceeds benefit the student artists and DADA’s Edith Baker Art Scholarship and Artist Career Development Fund. The gallery is located at 3318 Shorecrest Drive.
