Five Great Dallas Bike Trails, Parks and Paths

Katy Trail Uptown Dallas

Looking for a great way to spend an afternoon? Why not knock the dust off that old bicycle and explore the town. Dallas isn’t known for its bicycling, but there’s plenty of great hotspots to visit. Get ready for some fresh air and exercise as you explore these five great Dallas bike trails, parks and paths. In order to prepare your bike we recommend to visit the bike shop morphett vale and get a tune up.

White Rock Lake

Just barely outside of our giant skyscrapers is White Rock Lake, an urban paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Around this lake is an 11 mile paved trail that is reserved for cyclists, walkers and runners. This is one of the hottest cycling spots in all of Dallas and you will have plenty of company as cyclists of all skill and ages enjoy the scenery. The White Rock Lake trail is very smooth and flat making it a great place to ride for even the youngest or most beginner riders.

Oak Cliff Nature Preserve

This park is a grotto of green and wildflowers every spring and hidden away just south of downtown. Oak Cliff Nature Preserve is also one of the top mountain bike trails in the entire Metroplex. Spend the day seeing the flowers or a summer evening watching the sun set. 10 miles of dirt paths will keep a smile on your face as you pedal through fields and scream down gullies and creek beds. Sections of this trail are designed for more advanced mountain bikers, but there is plenty of beginner friendly trail as well.

L.B. Houston Nature Preserve

The trails at L.B. Houston park are long, flat and surprisingly smooth. This is the perfect place for a new mountain biker, a family of riders or anyone just looking to check out the great scenery as the trail brushes right up onto the Trinity river. The more adventurous riders will even find that the middle of this park has several bicycle ramps and jumps for those that are daring. This is all beginner all the time so grab a picnic basket and the kiddos and have a fun.

The Katy Trail

The Katy Trail is Dallas’ second most trafficked walking and biking path and it leads directly up to  the American Airlines Center. Riders here will pass through some great shopping and dining spots like Texas De Brazil, The IceHouse, and Chili’s at Travis & Knox st, and more. Often times you can even spot guided segway tours as they make their way through the city on sightseeing tours. During peak hours this trail can be very crowded so be patient with all the pedestrians.

Harry Moss Park

The mountain bike trail at Harry Moss Park is a rough and tumble adventure as it keeps you climbing and balancing over an assortment of rocks, dirt and obstacles. This is a more advanced trail than the one at L.B. Houston, but still not as technical or tiring as the trail at Oak Cliff Nature Preserve. Located just to the southeast of the I-75/I-635 intersection it would be a great escape for those days you think rush hour traffic is going to break you. Take your bike to the office one day and enjoy the trail afterwards.
