33rd Annual Lakewood Home Tour Festival (2009)

This weekend take a tour of 6 unique homes in the historic Lakewood neighborhood.

What started as a fundraiser back in ’76 to purchase playground equipment for kindergarten children, became a community-wide event benefiting Lakewood’s Elementary, Middle and High School. The local PTA group that started the event has raised more than $750,000 in just the last 5 years.

The Homes

6652 Avalon – Built in 1923, the homeowners completed an extensive renovation in early 2009, leaving no room untouched- except one original cedar closet.

3602 Hillside – Once a traditional 3/2 built in 1979, this ultra-contemporary “glass-house” now glows amid the trees and across the creek. The homeowners transformed this home in 2008, adding 3000 square feet and two additional stories.

6955 Lakewood Blvd – This Spanish Eclectic, completed in 2008, was designed to blend with the surroundings on Lakewood Blvd, yet offer a unique modern perspective.

7015 Lakewood Blvd – Architect Clifford Hutsell is synonymous with historic Lakewood architecture, and the home at 7015 Lakewood Boulevard is a rare example of his “French Mediterranean” aesthetic.

6715 Sunnyland – Built in 2005, 6715 Sunnyland is located on one of the few cul-de-sacs located in Lakewood. The craftsman style home is set on a lot that overlooks White Rock Creek.

7206 Tokalon – Virtually destroyed by fire two years ago, this once colonial home has been transformed into a warm contemporary retreat. Home to a well-known landscape architect, the backyard is naturally an urban oasis.
