The Austin College Global Outreach Forum presents Zainab Salbi, Women for Women International founder and president, and recipient of the 2011 Posey Leadership Award given annually by the College. At the event, Salbi will present a lecture on her international humanitarian work.

Salbi escaped Saddam Hussein’s inner circle and the horrors of the Iraq-Iran war. Her journey from tyranny to freedom led to the founding of Women for Women International in 1993; her work has helped a quarter million women survivors of wars access social and economic opportunities through a program of rights awareness training, vocational skills education, and access to income generating opportunities, ultimately contributing to the political and economic health of their communities. The organization has impacted more than 1.4 million people and distributed over $89 million in direct aid and microcredit loans.

Located in Sherman, Texas, Austin College is a leading independent liberal arts college with a national reputation for global education. Proceeds from the event will support scholarships for students studying abroad.
