A Night of Cupcakes & Nonconformity

Have you ever thought to yourself, “there must be more to life than this.” Do you harbor an unconventional dream? Are you looking to do something extraordinary with your life? Enjoy challenging the status quo?

Then, I’ve got an event for you…

Chris Guillebeau, author of the popular website and recently released book called The Art of Nonconformity: Set Your Own Rules, Live the Life You Want, and Change the World, will be visiting Dallas on a promotional book tour this Friday.

The Unconventional Book Tour

True to form, this is no ordinary book tour. From September until the end of the year, Chris will visit all 50 states promoting his book and meeting informally with readers. Then in January 2011, he will visit all 10 provinces in Canada for a grand total of 63 cities on the book tour.

When: Friday, October 22 at 7 pm
Where: Borders at 10720 Preston Rd. (Preston & Royal)
What: Informal gathering, not a traditional reading. While cupcakes are optional, they’re certainly preferred.

The Art of Nonconformity

The main message of Chris’ work is that you don’t have to live your life the way other people expect or tell you to. You can make your life whatever you want it to be. His particular approach to unconventional living involves a healthy dose of travel adventures in pursuit of an even bigger travel goal – visiting all the countries in the world by the age of 35. He’s currently at151 / 192 countries.

I met Chris at SXSW Interactive in Austin earlier this year. He’s a very down-to-earth guy who’s work lives up to its hype whether that’s increasing your stash of frequent flyer miles and travel hacking skills or radically change how you look at your life. I know it has for me.

Need Another Reason?

Having been both a self-employed entrepreneur and an aid worker in Africa, Chris’ approach to life balances doing good things for yourself with making the world a better place at the same time. So if you still needed another reason to come out, Chris is donating 100% of his book proceeds to Charity: Water for each reader he meets on The Unconventional Book Tour.

See you there. I’ll be the one with the cupcakes!
